Daoo Privacy Policy

In short: Daoo collects no personal information. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies. The website is free; the store apps offer a monthly subscription that Apple or Google handles (see below). Nothing your child does in the game is sent to us or to anyone else. The website counts anonymous visits (see below); the store apps do not.
What the app stores, and where
- Settings (languages, words per key, the child's name if you type one, the age you choose, reserved words): saved only on your device, in the app's local storage. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. The age only picks calm starting levels for the activities. To clear the name or age, change them in the parent settings (behind the parent check), or delete the app, which removes everything it stored.
- Photos, words and voices are part of the app and are not about you.
Microphone (optional)
The "Record their try and play it back" setting is off unless a parent turns it on. When it is on, the microphone opens only for about 4 seconds after "Your turn!" so your child can hear their own voice, and then it is switched off. The recording stays in the device's memory only, is played back once, and is then discarded; it is also cleared when the child moves to the next picture or the app goes into the background. It is never saved to a file, never uploaded and never shared.
Children
Daoo is designed for young children with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR, and the Apple App Store Kids and Google Play Families policies in mind, and it collects no personal information. Settings and the exit control are behind a parent check (holding a corner and answering a grown-ups-only math question).
Website visit counts
On the daoo.app website only, we use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are opened, the country, and the type of device and browser. It uses no cookies and collects no personal information; visits are counted in aggregate and cannot be used to identify you or your child. It never runs inside the store apps, and it never sees what your child does in the game.
Subscription in the store apps
The Apple App Store and Google Play handle the subscription completely: payment, the free trial, renewals, cancellations and refunds. We never see your name, card or payment details. The app only asks the store whether the subscription is active on this device.
Third parties
Daoo does not include third-party advertising or tracking code, and the store apps include no analytics. Fonts are included in the app. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under their free licenses and are listed, with credits, in the parent settings under "Photo credits".
